About the Artists

Shella & Kim have always been in love with the beach,  from living by the beach as a child, to the many trips made throughout our lives…
we each bring an excitement for the coastal lifestyle
and art that we wanted to share with others.

We decided to open Ophiuroidea,
or as some say, “The O”,

in St Michaels, Maryland to bring our love for all things beachy
and coastal.  We are not school taught, we each create what we love. We share different artistic abilities that complement the other.

Shella is a glass mosaic artist, photographer and otherwise artistic
person all around. While Kim is also an artist in many different medias, from wine glasses to wall murals to canvases, both are
artistic in many ways that make each day exciting with
anticipation of what will be created next!

We’ve also have come across many unique artists, from the seaglass jewelery maker to an amazing artist of our beloved mermaids,
to the fun and beachy home furnishings that we wanted to
share with others.
From the local Maryland artists, to those that
we have come across in our travels,
we have picked a few artists that we wanted to share,
so others can enjoy their creations, just as we do!

If you are interested in special orders for something you see in your shop or online, please let us know!
We can make just about anything,
and we like a challenge!

The name Ophiuroidea means “Brittle Star”, so if you can’t
pronounce our name- just say you’re going to
“The O” and come on in! And just like beachcombing,

you’ll never know what treasures you’ll find!!

Come back often, because like the tide,

what you see today might not be here tomorrow…

We look forward to seeing you!
Thanks for visiting!
Shella & Kim
